Apologizing for not writing sooner; explaining that he has been waiting "for a brief lull in the incessant toil & tumble involved" in moving to a new flat at Twickenham; lamenting the books he had to give away; discussing his wife's health; saying "there will be comparative peace even at Twickenham -- if the parachutists permit"; noting that "it is a strange destiny that you and I shall be living again through such a crisis as that of 1918"; commenting on L.A.G. Strong's new book.
